Recent progress of state-of-the-art NeXTimber® manufacturing facility

Timberlink’s EGM Sales, Marketing & Corporate Affairs, David Oliver welcomed newly appointed Deputy Premier Susan Close MP and The Hon. Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Primary Industries
and Regional Development to Timberlink’s Tarpeena mill to see recent progress of the construction of Australia’s first combined Radiata Pine Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) manufacturing facility which will be co-located at the existing Timberlink Tarpeena site.
Having completed the sub ground civils earlier in May, 50% of the concrete at the 15,000 square metre facility has now been poured with production of the NeXTimber range, scheduled to begin in
2023.
David Oliver, Timberlink’s EGM Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs said “It is great to see the interest from the new Government in the exciting development of a world-class timber
manufacturing facility at Tarpeena South Australia. It was great to have the opportunity to discuss the NeXTimber Cross Laminated Timber (GLT), Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) facility which is currently under construction at Tarpeena.”
Deputy Premier Susan Close MP said “It is wonderful to see the investments being made by Timberlink in both the construction of a new timber manufacturing plant and the inspirational
investment in the CLT GLT plant”. “The Forestry Sector in SA employs 18,000 people and is key to the prosperity of Southeast South Australia”
The construction the CLT GLT plant is the first combined radiata pine plant in Australia and will create products that will be used to build high rise buildings up to 12 stories. This facility will
increase Australia’s sovereign capability to manufacture CLT & GLT and reduce import reliance and assist in decarbonising the Australia construction industry. “Every cubic metre of CLT GLT will store
631 KG of carbon and enable the construction of building has store cabin rather than creating more greenhouse gasses,” said Mr Oliver.
The Hon. Clare Scriven, Minister for Forest Industries said “I have long been a strong supporter of the Forestry sector and timber manufacturing, The South Australian Government is pleased to be part of this $63M investing in Timberlink’s CLT GLT plant through a co-Investment of $2M”. “I look forward to seeing this world class facility completed and enabling the construction of Carbon Positive buildings in South Australia” said Minister Scriven.
